Summer Travel Essentials

Read more about my top 5 summer getaway essentials!

With winter quickly coming to a close, all I can seem to think about is SUMMER. I can’t wait to pull out my sunnies, hit the beach, and get Summer 2016 off to a great start.

It’s so much fun to plan weekend trips with my closest friends during the summertime, so I’ve teamed up with HomeAway to bring you my Weekend Getaway Travel Essentials.

unnamed-1

First off, I gotta have my sunscreen! These days, I don’t seem to go anywhere without my sun protection 🙂 I make protecting my skin a major priority because sunscreen has been proven to help with anti-aging. With all the knowledge we have on the link between prolonged sun exposure and skin cancer, I think this should be an essential for everyone. My favorite sunscreen is the Sanitas Solar Block. It’s oil-free and lightweight, plus it doesn’t clog my pores at all and it’s made with anti-aging ingredients like Micronized Zinc Oxide and antioxidant vitamins.

My second getaway essential is my sunnies! Not only do they add the perfect finishing touch to any summer outfit, they also protect my eyes from harmful UV Rays. I’ve been LOVING this pair that I recently picked up at the Nasty Gal store on Melrose!

I also have to bring some healthy snacks. I’m that girl that always has snacks around. Being a vegan, it’s often difficult to find food on-the-go so I make sure to bring healthy options like fruits, veggies, nuts, dried fruits, coconut water, and my favorite Vega nutrition bars.

Another cute (and useful) summer essential is my floppy hat! I love having the sun out of my face with this accessory. It really creates my own, personal, little shade while I’m sunbathing or taking a nice walk along the beach. VSCO Cam-1

The last essential I have to have with me on any weekend getaway shouldn’t come as any surprise. My flip flops! I can’t go to the beach without a cute pair of sandals. They just make it super easy to get in and out of the water as I please without worrying about ruining my shoes! Plus I get to show off my cute summertime pedicures 😉

So those are my top 5 summer getaway essentials. My dream getaway destination would be somewhere like Bora Bora. How amazing does this look?! Gorgeous waters and sunny skies! Now that’s what I’m talking about!  If you can’t get to Bora Bora, the Florida Panhandle has some gorgeous beaches as well!

Where would your dream getaway take you?

I love doing these Chit Chat Get Ready with Me videos because it really gives me a chance to talk to you guys. It’s almost like we’re best friends or something 😉 This look is going to be PERFECT for Summer 2015!
I love love love the bright berry / magenta / violet lip trend that’s going on right now and that’s exactly what I created with this lip look! It was the first time I tried out the Kevyn Aucoin Matte Lip Color in Resilient. Let me just say…. it is phenomenal! The texture is velvety smooth and the matte formula is not drying at all which is the problem I have with most matte lipsticks.
For the eyes, I created a cool tone eye look for this talk through tutorial. I used the Tarte Miracles from the Amazon Eye and Cheek palette. OH MY GOODNESS. These colors are gorgeous – they have a great color payoff, amazing texture and awesome pigmentation. Honestly, what else could you ask for? I’ve been loving cool tones ever since I dyed my hair blonde so that was my main inspiration behind the look. ALSO: Update from the video… I figured out what the name of the beautiful coral blush in the palette is: Talented. I believe this is a limited edition Amazonian Clay blush from Tarte, but don’t quote me on that! Either way, it’s B-E-A-UTIFUL! I know I’m going to be getting a lot of use out of this blush during the summertime. Especially on those no-makeup, minimal, natural, beach days.

I hope you like this video and enjoy chit-chatting with me on this fine Sunday 😉

New video next Wednesday!

Sparitual Wipeout

I’ve always loved the look of white polish – especially in the Summertime! It looks very chic, clean, and put together. I’ve been looking for a non-toxic white polish… and low and behold I have found a perfect shade – Wipeout by Sparitual.

Sparitual is a brand that was designed and developed around the concept of “Slow Beauty”. To Sparitualists, “slow beauty” means taking the time to slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the calmness of the world as well as wellness within. Sparitual products are vegan and free of DBP, toluene, formaldehyde, and formaldehyde resin. They have a wide variety of nail polish collections and shades.

Wipeout is a gorgeous ivory white. It has a bit of a pearl undertone if you look closely. I just love that this shade isn’t a “flat” color – it really holds some dimension! Along with being a natural brand, this polish has a nice application. It applied smooth and left a glossy finish.

I look forward to trying more products from Sparitual – I’m really interested in the brand behind the beauty: vegan, non-toxic, and the concept of “slow beauty” in a fast world.

As for now, Wipeout by Sparitual is my new go-to Summer polish!
